Optimising Images for Your Website

We've found the best image resizer on the web is Picresize.com - It's free, easy to use and doesn't need you to install any software or anything. A great little tool to help you with editing websites in our content management system.

We have a general rule for image sizing in website design page layout:

portrait-imagelandscape-imagePortrait (long) orientated images should be no wider than 170 pixels width (regardless of height)

Landscape (wide) orientated images should be no wider than 250 pixels width (regardless of height)

In the above dimensions, no single picture should be more than around 20kb at the very most. Making sure your website loads quickly on every page.
